Calling Musicians, Dancers & Variety Acts; Cambridge Buskers and Street Performers Festival is back!
Cambridge 18th to 19th September 2021
POSTPONED FROM 17th to 18th July 2021
Cambridge is a city of music and festivals and busking is a vibrant and important part of that.
We want to encourage street performers from the Cambridgeshire area to take part in a festival that brings visitors in to the city to enjoy the amazing array of talent that we have in Cambridge.
The Cambridge Buskers and Street Performers Festival organisers has, in recent years, joined forces with the famous Strawberry Fair on the first Saturday in June on Midsummer Common, Cambridge, but this year we're back on the streets of Cambridge!
We will have socially distanced measures in place, so we can all enjoy a safe event.
This event creates a fabulous atmosphere throughout the city centre streets and brings visitors in to the city.
Heather Bevan-Hunt, Festival Director, says:
I'm really excited the festival is back on the streets of the city and am looking forward to the fabulous array of talent Cambridge has to offer. We hope the performances will bring a smile to peopleI's faces after a very difficult year. She goes on to say:
it's a great opportunity for young up and coming performers to showcase their act where the street is the stage!
This free 2-day event will take place:
10am to 6pm Saturday 18th September
11am to 5pm Sunday 19th September
and will create a wonderful atmosphere in the
city. For the first time we will have a children's corner with some fabulous storytellers taking part,
as well as performances on the city centre streets and all this for free!!!
We would like to thank this year's supporters of the event, Cambridge Bid and Pharminox Isolation
Ltd. for their financial support and Cambridge City Council for guidance in staging the festival,
without whom the event would not be possible.
Cambuskers Community Group are now taking applications from street performers for the 2021 Cambridge Buskers and Street Performers Festival. If you think you have talent and want to showcase your act you can enter here:
Closing date for applications is the 12th June.
Should we be inundated with applications, priority will be given to local acts.
The aim of the Cambuskers Community Group is to celebrate and embrace all the talent and culture we have in the city and to highlight the Street Performers Code of Practice throughout the festival. This code of conduct aims to ensure that businesses, residents and visitors can enjoy a time honoured tradition which goes back to medieval times, when wandering minstrels and bards travelled from place to place and acted not only as entertainers, but also as news reporters and message bearers.
Cambuskers bring music and dance to the streets of Cambridge!
